Commissioner Jung is a champion for preserving our resources and sustaining our future. She considers all Washoe County policies with a green perspective. Washoe County has invested in an Energy Savings Audit, achieved $400,000 in annual savings in energy consumption and has installed solar panels at the County Administrative Offices, the Reno Senior Center and the Northwest Library.

Commissioner Jung testified at the State Legislature to help get AB353 passed, a bill that stiffens penalties and provides localities with new tools to combat illegal dumping. The bill, sponsored by Assemblyman David Bobzien, D-Reno, creates a new civil penalty of $500 to $5000 for those guilty of illegal dumping and allows for the creation of a program in each county across the state to combat illegal dumping. The programs and the money raised through the penalties will provide much needed assistance for the clean up of illegal dumps in Washoe County's open space.
